Sexuality, Nationality and Asylum: The New Plan for Immigration
Join a crucial discussion on how shifting immigration and asylum law impacts LGBTIQA+ refugees and asylum seekers.
The event focuses on exploring the implications of the Nationality and Borders Act 2022, as well as the Illegal Migration Bill which is currently making its way through Parliament, on LGBTIQA+ refugees and asylum seekers.
By bringing together people who have first-hand experience of the UK asylum system, lawyers who specialize in representing LGBTIQA+ claimants, charities who support asylum claimants, and academics, the event seeks to explore the implications of recent legislation and begin to propose solutions and ideas for how the challenges it poses can be met.
The days events run from 9.00am until 7.00pm and include a plenary session where all attendees will be invited to share their perspectives, concerns, and understandings.
The event is open to all.
