What is a teaching apprenticeship?
The Teaching Apprenticeship will replace the School Direct route. School Direct will cease to exist. Oxford Brookes University is currently working with supporting partners and the Department of Education to set up the Teaching Apprenticeships for entry in September 2025. Information will appear here relevant to the Teaching Apprenticeship in due course, please check back every now and again to find out more about the Teaching Apprenticeship that will be offered by Oxford Brookes University.

Routes
With Postgraduate Teaching Apprenticeship programmes, you won’t need to pay any tuition fees. You'll be employed by a school, and salaries will differ between employers.
Entry requirements
To apply for a Teaching Apprenticeship, you need the following GCSEs or equivalents: achieving a standard of grade 4 or higher in English and Mathematics. In addition, those wishing to study Primary teacher education also require a GCSE at grade 4 or equivalent in Science.
PGCE without QTS
For those who currently hold QTS only, to enhance your career development at Oxford Brookes we offer the master’s level three module PGCE without QTS. Credits from this course be put towards an MA Education.
To enhance your career development we offer the master’s level three module PGCE without QTS certificate that can be put towards an MA Education. The SCITT is responsible for training you for QTS.
