A free subject based programme designed to support you in making decisions about your next steps after school or college through the following activities.
Visit the campus and make use of our state of the art facilities.
You’ll get to engage in your choice of subject sessions delivered by Oxford Brookes University staff and academics.
You can choose what content to complete and complete it in your own time so that you can tailor your experience to what you are interested in or need more support with. This includes further subject content as well as support with UCAS and careers information.
Mentors will help you navigate the challenges of applying to university, and will tell you all about student life and what it is like to be a student at Oxford Brookes. Your mentor is also able to support you with subject related questions, and you can meet your mentor when you visit Oxford Brookes.
Masterclasses will give you the chance to learn more about studying your chosen subject and get to know new people with similar interests to you from across the country, including current students.
Much of the programme, including mentoring, personal statement and interview support sessions will take place online so you can access them from anywhere! There will also be ‘pick and mix’ website content you can access in your own time and at your own pace.
Masterclasses will take place on campus so you can experience our incredible facilities and work with academics in person! As a Brookes Engage student, you’ll also receive a special invite to the Open Day and Applicant Days.
If you decide to apply to university, Brookes Engage will be a great thing to write about in your personal statement, as it shows your commitment to learn more beyond sixth form or college. As part of the programme you’ll receive support in completing your UCAS application.
Successful completion of the programme will give you access to a contextual offer to study at Oxford Brookes. This means we’ll offer you a place on reduced tariff points as long as any other conditions of the offer are met. This is usually around two grades lower, but can vary per course.

The programme will start in January of Year 12 with activities taking place throughout the rest of the year:

All travel and meals for in-person activities will be provided at no cost to you.
Once you return for Year 13, the programme will begin again in September with a range of support available for your UCAS application. In October you can visit campus again, with a special invite to the university Open Day. You will also continue to take part in online mentoring with your Oxford Brookes University mentor.
You will be able to choose from a range of subjects closely related to a variety of degree courses.

A fair justice system is important but who decides what is fair, how do we ensure impartiality and how do we challenge injustice and create change?
This subject stream will focus on the subjects of Law and Criminology but will also ask you to consider those important questions with input from academics from our History, Philosophy, Sociology, Literature and Education programmes. Working in a range of disciplines you'll undertake enquiring investigation into our relationship to society and power, at the same time building the critical and creative thinking skills vital for future success.
Consider key aspects of Business Management, Marketing and Events Planning to further your understanding of what a degree, and career, in this vibrant and exciting industry could involve. The Business subject stream will provide you with a wide range of experiences, skills and knowledge by exploring themes from our Business undergraduate courses.
Ever wanted to experience what it is like to work in the Built Environment industry or as an Architect? Look no further! Our Built Environment and Architecture stream gives you a practical insight into how we plan, design and construct our buildings and cities, working with our academics as well as gaining insight on how to build your portfolio for university applications and beyond.
Get hands-on experience of Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence, experimenting with our robots through practical activities and work in our high spec computer labs to delve deeper into programming.
On this stream, you'll gain valuable insights into studying a Biology-related subject at university. You'll meet and collaborate with staff from the Department of Biological and Medical Sciences, experiencing a range of research and teaching roles.
The sessions will include practicals, lectures, and discussions, giving you ample opportunity to ask questions. You’ll explore how learning and studying work at university, the types of assessments you might encounter, and the diverse career paths in research, industry, healthcare, and support roles that a Biology-related degree can offer.
You are invited to explore both the Adult Nursing and Paramedic Science profession and gain insight into the skills required to provide patient centred rehabilitation. Using patient cases and a simulated clinical environment, you will have the opportunity to apply and develop problem solving skills, reflection and communication skills that are key for careers in healthcare.
